The JBJ Memorial

                                       Joshua Benjamin Jeyaretnam

                                      5 January 1926 to 30 September 2008

“Come walk with me, for peace, justice and truth, fearing no one else but God”

– JBJ at Reform Party inauguration dinner, July 2008

The JBJ Memorial is set up by the editors from The Wayangparty Club to preserve the legacy of Singapore’s opposition icon, Mr J.B. Jeyaretnam for future generations of Singaporeans.

For many years, Mr JBJ is the lone voice in Singapore’s adversarial political landscape dominated by the PAP calling for reforms in the current political system.

He has been a constant thorn in the flesh of the PAP which has led to a dubious conviction, multiple defamation suits leading to bankruptcy and constant vilification and ridicule by the state-controlled media.

Mr JBJ passed away of heart failure on 30 September 2008 at 82 years of age. As we mourn his passing, let us not forget his numerous contributions.

Though Mr JBJ may have failed in his quest to reform Singapore, we will preserve his message for posterity.
